There are more than 40 types of astrology that span the globe and stand the test of time. Almost everyone is familiar with some form of astrology; particularly Western astrology and unless you're from Asia, many people don't know Chinese astrology let alone understand it. Today, times have certainly changed; we now see a huge interest in the Chinese astrology from the West. Chinese astrology is not event-based. It is an amalgamated methodology in connecting a person to the environment, the soul purpose and to the universe. It is not just about predictions. It is about how we interact with the world, understanding ourselves, the who, the why, the what and the how.

Chinese astrology has about 13 million combinations of astrological charts and about 500 astrological charts in Western astrology. It is closely connected to Chinese philosophy and applies the concept of yin and yang systems; something that is not present in Western astrology. BaZi is one of the two systems of Chinese astrology - Zi Wei Dou Shu and BaZi are derived from the yin and yang systems. Bazi, part of the yang system uses the solar calendar while Zi Wei Dou Shu belongs to the yin system using the lunar calendar. BaZi foresees the challenges that are likely to arise or occur as a result of one's characteristics and personality.

Chinese Metaphysics - The Five Arts

The Five Arts of Ancient Chinese Metaphysics has been around since mid fourth century BC. A time when astronomy and divination were used by the elite to strategise movements, recruit suitable leaders, enroll students with the most potential and even arrange marriages according to time and space. What was unthinkable and not within grasp to the ordinary people back then is now widely available to anyone today.

There are five branches or subjects under the Chinese Metaphysics umbrella. They are:

  1. Medicine - Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

  2. Mountain - Philosophy. Martial Arts. Meditation. Spirituality.

  3. Destiny - BaZi (Four Pillars).

  4. Zi We Dou Shu (Purple Star) Physiognomy - Feng Shui. Face & Palm Reading.

  5. Divination - Da liu Ren. Qi Men Dun Jia. Dua Yi. Tai Yi. I-Ching.

BAZI

BaZi when translated means “eight characters” or commonly know as the Four Pillars of destiny. It is a Chinese astrological concept that our mission, path and purpose of life can be analysed by understanding the elements and energies seen the year, month, day and hour of birth of our chart.

The Four Pillars are erected on the basis of the birth details and calculations. These pillars are then assigned celestial stems and earthly branches to be analysed. The day pillar known as the self element is crucial as it is the point of reference for BaZi anyalsis. The chart doesn't change nor can we change it but we can rise above it.

We can't change what we are born with or the family we're born into but the law of free will allows us to change our environment, our thoughts and the way we do things. Remember, our BaZi chart is our spiritual blueprint, our DNA. It explains the why and the how of our life's journey. With it we can do something to make our time here on earth happy and the people in our lives, loved.

In Chinese Metaphysics, there are three distinct forces that influence our life’s journey. The Cosmic Trinity or Power of Three is made up of three types of luck. Luck is the reverberation of chance. It can be good or bad. To change and improve the outcome of our destiny, the Chinese believe, we must must receive good ancestral karma, have high moral standards and implement good feng shui. The Cosmic Trinity harmonise and work in unison.

Decoding and understanding your very own birth chart helps you appreciate yourself, recognise your struggles, stop your saboteurs and guide you to create a better life for yourself and your loved ones.
